 Message of Support

for the establishment of the 23^rd of October

as the International Day for action of respect and offering to the fellow human being

On Wednesday the 28^th of September 2011, the Sikionians’ Municipality, after a unanimous decision of the city council and the Mayor’s, Mr. Spyros Stamatopoulos, proposition, approved the suggestion of the theatrical group “Transformation” for the establishment and implementation of an International Day for Action of respect for life and offering to the fellow human being.

For this reason, the Sikionians’ Municipality, with the theatrical group “Transformation”, the United Nations Goodwill Ambassadress against AIDS UNAIDS) Ms Mero Kessessioglou, the Consulate of the Ivory Coast in Greece and Greek Action for Africa (N.G.O.), jointly organize a cultural charity event on October 23^rd 2011, at the ASO Warehouses in Kiato, where Aristophanes’ play “The Clouds” will be presented by the SIKIONIAN STAGE, under the direction of George Karvountzis.  The Event’s proceeds will be put at the disposition of the family of an under-age student who must undergo surgery abroad.

The Idea and the Initiative

for a new day of Action and Respect for the fellow man

The idea was born on 16/5/2004 during a cultural charity event that took place at the the Tzeni Karezi Theatre where Dimitris Potamitis’ play “Socrates’ belt”  by the Children’s New Stage of Moulki, Korinthia, was presented, and belongs to Konstantina Giabourani who at the time directed the children of the theatre group. 

The initiative for the establishment of the 23^rd of October each year as the new International day for action of respect of life and offering to the fellow human being was undertaken by “Metamorphosi”, in cooperation with Ambassadress Ms M. Kessessioglou, the Ivory Coast Consulate in Greece and the Greek Action in Africa, during a cultural charity event on October 23^rd, 2010, where Thomas’ Chalvatzis’ play “The Secret of Life” was performed by the Children’s New Stage of Moulki, Korinthia, under the direction of Konstantina Giabourani.

We believe that respect to nature and to man, the need for offer and solidarity must not simply be expressed with words, they have to become ACTION in our daily routine,  

We feel that we are all ONE within the body of humanity, of our country, our city, of our small local community,

We believe in the significant power that THEATRE and ART hold for the transformation of the peoples of the world,

If man stops believing in the power of TRANSFORMATION, his own and that of the World, then our Society will have definitely failed…
